Author. Journalist.
Long before self-publishing was a thing, Sibylla established herself as an authorpreneur with her first book. She published “The Little Black Book of Filmmaking” in 1993, a handy resource guide for independent filmmakers.
A few years later, she co-wrote and co-published “The Fan Survival Guide: 50 Ways to Meet Your Favorite Celebrity” with Shirronda Sweet, which was selected as a book of the month for Teen People. Always an early adopter, she received recognition from WB TV for her humorous parenting blog, In the Corner, in 2003.
A freelance writer, her work has appeared in a variety of outlets, including Essence Magazine, The Chicago Tribune, Lit Hub, and many others.
She has an MFA in Creative Writing from Otis College of Art & Design and a BA in Print Journalism from the University of Southern California. She is also a Yale Writers Workshop alum.
A hybrid author, Sibylla has published books with Capstone/Sports Illustrated for Kids, and her first traditionally published book, Juneteenth, will be published by Simon & Schuster in April 2026. Her work has been supported by StoryKnife, The Highlights Foundation, and SCBWI.
