Summer Reading List

Open book copyI'm still coming off my writing high after attending the Yale Writer's Conference. In addition to meeting an amazing and eclectic group of writers, I also got tons of book suggestions.  I mean, what else would you expect from a group of writers? The books they're reading/have read are as diverse and interesting as themselves. Here's a quick run-down of what I'll be reading this summer so I can sound more literate at my next conference. 🙂

The Paris Wife by Paula McClain
At-Risk Stories by Amina Gautier
Let the Great World Spin by Colum McCann
Legacy of Ashes by Tim Weiner
To Kill A Man's Pride: And Other Stories from South Africa by Norman Hodge
Island Beneath the Sea by Isabel Allende
The Anthologist by Nicholson Baker (I had him for a master class and he is what I think Santa Clause would look like if he had a day job)
The Life Before Us by Romain Gary

The librarian at my local library recommended Ebony & Ivy by Craig Steven Wilder. It's about race, slavery and the troubled history of America's universities.

All I can say is thank goodness all of my favorite shows are on hiatus so I can focus on reading! Orange is the New Black season 2? Been there done that (omg!!).

What are your list this summer? Please share in the comments.
